Round 15 1st Grade Preview

Round 15 of Well Hung Glass and Aluminium First Grade competition kicks off with old foe’s Teachers West and Brothers coming up against each other, in the only fixture played at Mike Carney Toyota Park. The LARC’s host Burdekin in their first home game of 2019 at Bindal Sports Ground, whilst we round out the week with North Ward Old Boys hosting Charters Towers at the Sports Reserve.

BROTHERS V TEACHERS WEST

Rivals Brothers and Teachers West once again face off for another huge fixture of rugby at Mike Carney Toyota Park. Teachers West are looking to continue their very impressive season with another victory and chase down that Minor Premiership trophy. Brothers will be delighted with their performance against University last week and will be looking to cause a massive upset to knock over the dominant Bulldogs and really shake up the competition. This game kicks off 5pm @Mike Carney Toyota Park.

LARC’s V BURDEKIN

In their first home game of the 2019 season, LARC’s will need to find some winning form after suffering a close defeat to North Ward last week. Although they were down a player for parts of the match, the Army outfit dug deep to have a sniff at victory, but unfortunately, were not good enough to close out the win. Burdekin, on the other hand, will be full of confidence coming into this game, as they won the battle of the country against Charters Towers in Ayr. Burdekin put on quite a show for their impressive crowd, as Old Boys Day brought down plenty of locals to watch the Toads play. These two teams will once again, want to play fast, physical rugby and it is going to be interesting to see who comes out on top. Kick off 4pm @Bindal Sports Grounds.

NORTH WARD V CHARTERS TOWERS

In our last fixture of Round 15, we are heading to the Sports Reserve to see North Ward Old Boys play Charters Towers in another entertaining fixture of First Grade rugby. North Ward are aiming for their fifth victory in a row this weekend and they will have to play to their best ability to topple their opponents from the west. Charters on the other hand are looking to find that winning form that had them in second place on the First Grade ladder. A tough loss last week in the Burdekin will hopefully spur this team into crushing North Wards winning run and get their season back on track. Kick off is 4:50pm @Sports Reserve

Make sure you head down to watch your local rugby team and support grassroots rugby!
