Zarraffas Junior Brolga Academy Wrap Up

Yesterday saw the Zarraffas postseason Junior Brolga Academy wrap up in the Burdekin, bringing an end to the 5 week program that began back in mid October. The aim of the academy was to improve all participants core rugby skills that include: Catch, Pass, Tackle, Breakdown, Position Specific, as well as work on speed, footwork and agility. After five weeks of activities there has been a vast improvement in all participants core skills.

This year’s postseason academy saw an increase in attendance across all three regions (Townsville, Burdekin & Charters Towers). Whilst there was a predominantly male presence, there was a handful of Teenage Girls who attended each of the Academies which was awesome to see. Townsville’s academy also saw half a dozen Under 11 Ingham juniors travel down weekly. Below are the total number of participants in each region from the last 5 weeks:

  • Townsville: 73
  • Burdekin: 13
  • Charters Towers: 34
