Isolated Children get their First Taste of Rugby

Last Monday saw the TDRU Development team head out to Charters Towers to assist the Charters Towers Bulls with the running of rugby sessions for the Isolated Children’s Parents’ Association – Fit for Rural Futures Sports Camp. The ICPA is a voluntary, non-profit, apolitical parent body dedicated to ensuring that all rural and remote students have equity of access to a continuing and appropriate education. For students, this is a great way to give new sports a go, with some children getting their first taste for rugby union.

Kids come from all of Queensland from places such as Hughenden, Mt Isa, Longreach, Julia Creek, Winton for a week and are exposed to all different sports including rugby union. A big thanks to Lun Knuth and Brett Murray from the Charters Towers Bulls who assisted on Monday before taking full control of the program for the remainder of the week.
