1st Grade Preview

RUGBY IS BACK! These are the three words Townsville Rugby Union players, supporters and sponsors have been waiting to here since the season came to an abrupt halt back in March. This Saturday will see the A. Gabrielli Constructions First Grade Competition resume with three blockbuster clashes taking place at Mike Carney Toyota Park. In the rounds first game North Ward will come up against Burdekin who will be looking to claim their first victory of 2020. The following game will see Western Suburbs try to knock defending premiers Teachers West off the top of the ladder. The final game will see Brothers and LARCS go head to head in what’s sure to be a physical encounter.

Game 1 – North Ward V Burdekin @2:50pm

The first game to take place will see Burdekin travel to Mike Carney Toyota Park in search of their first victory of the season. Standing in their way will be North Ward who are hungry for their maiden 1st Grade premiership. North Ward will be keen to continue their winning ways when they look to make it 3 wins from as many games. Can Burdekin put a stop to this? Game 2 – Teachers West V Western Suburbs @4:20pm

Game 2 will see Western Suburbs bring the heat as they look to upset competition heavyweights Teachers West. It will be business as usual for the defending premiers as they look to extend their undefeated run, and after a strong preseason number 2, the Teachers boys are ready to rip in. Western Suburbs will be looking to prove that they can stick it with the best side in the competition. Last time they met: Teachers West DEF Western Suburbs

Game 3 – Brothers V LARCS @5:50pm

The final match of the weekend will see arguably the match of the round take place when Brothers take on LARCS for the first time this year. Brothers will look to remain undefeated in 2020 but will have to play well in what’s set to be a physical encounter with the LARCs know for the brutality in both attack and defence.
