This year’s final leg of the #Festivalof7s was the Stihl Shop Townsville Senior 7’s. This year’s Teenage 7’s took a different format with the older age groups, Under 17 & 18 Boys and Girls, moved to a separate date to form our Youth 7’s Tournament. This left 4 Teenage boys divisions (13’s, 14’s, 15’s & 16’s) and 2 Teenage girls divisions (14’s & 16’s). The number of teams in this tournament exceeded expectations with a total of 48 teams nominating and competing on the day. A big thank you to all those teams that travelled from out of town – Burdekin, Charters Towers, Mackay and the Whitsundays Region.
Under 13 Boys: The Under 13 boys had a total of 7 teams competing with Just One More looking to take out their second cup final victory, however fell short. Brothers and Cowboys House would go through to the cup final, with Cowboys House going onto claim the Under 13’s trophy.

Under 14 Boys: The Under 14 boys had a 6-team competition with the two standout teams, the Allstars and 2 time (age-group) defending champions the Barbarians, winning through to the cup final. The Cup Final saw the Allstars put on a dominant display to stop the Barbarians 3-peat.

Under 14’s Girls: The Under 14’s Girls saw a competitive group of 7 teams fight it out to play in the final, with Brothers Girls and Thuringowa Joeys earning their place in the final. After an exhilarating 14 minutes, the scores were locked which meant the team who scored first (Brothers) would be crowned victors. Congratulations to Brothers.

Under 15’s Boys: This years Under 15 boy’s division featured 8 teams with the Cup Final being played between 2 Stacks and Allstars, two teams who had dominated Saturday’s competition. Congratulations to 2 Stacks who ran away with the Cup trophy after a dominant display.

Under 16’s Boys: The Under 16’s boys age group included 8 teams of a high standard. The cup final saw Cowboys House and Western Lions go head to head in a blockbuster game that saw Cowboys House put on a clinical display to take out the Under 16’s Cup Final.

Under 16’s Girls: The Under 16’s Girls was the largest and most competitive with a total of 12 teams battling it out for first place. The Cup Final saw North Ward Blue and the North West Hurricanes clash for the first time all tournament. In an exciting finish to the carnival, North Ward Blue were crowned Under 16 Girls victors.
