Round 3 of the TDRU Rapid Spin Under-19 Colts competition featured a single matchup, with Brothers taking on the undefeated North Ward.
Coming off a strong win the previous round, Brothers faced a tough challenge against a North Ward side boasting a full squad — a clear sign of the growing depth and enthusiasm within this year’s competition. In contrast, Brothers took the field with just 13 players, many of whom were Under-17s stepping up to the Colts level.
Despite the difference in numbers, the match began as an evenly contested battle, with both forward packs laying a solid platform and showing early dominance. Each side created opportunities through line breaks, resulting in tries at either end in an entertaining opening.
Brothers crossed through Zak Green, Hunter Wallace, and Daniel Player, with conversions added by Daniel Player and Leslie Trimmer. North Ward’s try came via Connor Thompson, who powered his way over the line.
A defining moment of the match came when Brothers were reduced to 13 players following a send-off, leaving them to defend with just 13 against North Ward’s 15. In a display of determination and resilience, Brothers held firm, producing outstanding defence under immense pressure. North Ward, despite the numerical advantage, were unable to fully capitalise during this period.
The match highlighted the competitiveness and unpredictability of the Colts competition this season, with teams continuing to show growth and resilience each week. As the season progresses, the race for the top remains wide open.
